‎The NISafetyE Message on Workers’ Day - May 1st, 2026

‎Dear Esteemed Members, Fellows, Corporate Partners, and Stakeholders
‎‎I warmly welcome you to the month of May 2026, with profound appreciation for God’s grace and renewed optimism for the opportunities that lie ahead for our Institution.
‎‎Today, we join all to celebrate all workers and pray to Almighty God for us to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

‎As we step into a new month, it is both fitting and gratifying to reflect on the remarkable strides recorded in April 2026, a month that clearly demonstrated the strength of our collective commitment to advancing safety engineering practice in Nigeria.
‎‎Highlights of April 2026 Activities-

One of the defining moments of the month was the successful commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026, aligned with the mandate of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

As part of this global observance, the NISafetyE hosted a highly impactful webinar, expertly delivered by Dr. Albert Ikolo, FNES, FNISafetyE, Corporate Safety Manager at Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited.
‎‎
The session provided deep professional insights and reinforced the strategic relevance of integrating safety engineering controls in dealing with psychosocial hazards across industries. In furtherance of public enlightenment and advocacy, the Institution issued a radio broadcast to drive nationwide awareness on workplace safety and health, reinforcing our role as a leading voice in the promotion of safe and healthy work environments across all sectors of the economy.
‎‎Additionally, the month witnessed impressive grassroots engagement through various technical sessions organised by our Chapters in: Abuja – FCT, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Rivers, Delta, Lagos, Kano, Oyo, and Osun. These sessions not only deepened technical competence among members but also strengthened professional collaboration and local impact.
‎‎
Another notable achievement was NISafetyE’ s contribution to thought leadership through the delivery of a technical paper titled “Safety Engineering as a Pillar of Sustainable Industrial Growth”, presented by the National Chairman during the 75th Birthday Celebration of HR Engr. Otis T. O. Anyaeji, FAEng, FNISafetyE. This moment underscored the Institute’s commitment to national development and recognised the invaluable legacy of one of Nigeria’s foremost engineering icons.

‎April 2026 also concluded on a strong governance note with the NISafetyE Council Meeting, where fruitful and strategic conversations were held to further position the NISafetyE for growth, institutional strengthening, and greater national relevance.
‎‎
Looking ahead, the successes recorded in April reaffirm our shared vision and inspire us to do more.
‎As we journey through May, I enjoin all members to remain actively engaged, professionally ethical, and committed to advancing the goals of NISafetyE in research, advocacy, capacity building, and policy influence.
‎‎
I invite you to join our next National Technical Session billed for Saturday May 16th to be delivered by a senior Process and Technical Safety Expert. Please do not miss this session for anything. Watch out for the Flyer.
‎‎
Together, we will continue to elevate safety engineering as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.

Once again, I wish you a productive, safe, and fulfilling month of May 2026, and happy Workers’ Day.
‎‎
Warm regards in safety and service
‎‎
